I don't know about you guys, but I'm psyched by the idea of a new forum. Why have our party at some guy's house we don't even know?

I guess if he provided free booze, that would be a reason, even if he stole our passports and sold them on the black market.Hanover wrote:I don't know about you guys, but I'm psyched by the idea of a new forum. Why have our party at some guy's house we don't even know?
Welcome Hanover. I'm sure we will all breathe a sigh of relief now that you found your way over here.

Zeus is an asshole!
I'm here...
... it took a bit, but I made it.
What the fuck else is gonna happen to me today...
... I get my cyclist to the World Tour only to lose my rights as a trainer.
... The city of Vienna nearly elected a Nazi as Mayor.
... The city of Vienna is screwing with me more in that they want to build an 8 floor apartment in front of my nose blocking my view of the mountains.
... My baseball team is suffering from a delusional identity crisis and might go belly up. (a fat belly I might add...)
... I spending my days with 3 to 5 hours of rehab/training to come back from a career ending operation and people won't shut up about criticizing me for trying.
Oh...
... and I travel to the USA in 8 weeks landing in a hyper-conservative region of Virginia where 85% of all people there support Trump blindly and I have no car or other means of escaping them for 3 weeks non-stop... yes, me... the atheistic liberal social democrat.
Life is just 'peachy'.
Oh well...
... atleast we have this cute emoticon here:
Makes me feel a whole lot better.
Anyone have a plan to re-boot PF?
Meow!

Seems as good of a place as any...
... then again, I really have no idea what makes a 'good place' for a Forum in the internet.
Anyway...
... I get to use this:
Seems like a good place just for that reason alone.
Meow!

The members (and the mods) make a good place.

Thought of a name for this place: Hanorovia. I'll market it through my media company: Pynys Media.

Someone ought to add some kind of rating system so I can +1 this post.Hanover wrote:Thought of a name for this place: Hanorovia. I'll market it through my media company: Pynys Media.
EDIT: But surely it would be "Hanoveria"?

Hi chaps. I'm just here to make up the numbers. Don't expect to get any work out of me.

Incidentally, it occurs to me that any purported scammer has access to all the old handles, which is why I have also signed up my seldom used alter ego, who refuses to introduce himself. So keep up that paranoia and look sideways at each other until you have clearly demonstrated your philosophical credentials. As Hobbs said, '...even the smallest child can carry a knife.'

Hey all.
Election day here, which tends to get the wife occasionally shaking her fist in virtual anger at the clouds.
If anyone learns more about http://forums.philosophyforums.com/ please feel free to post it.
(I've turned the daily backups off and will let Paul know.)

Hey, no breaks! Get back to quelling suspicions of shenanigans whilst I accumulate all of the valuable private information for clandestine sales.
I mean... something less incriminating...

OK, well the site is well and truly under the control of Porat now. So far he has shown little or no interest in it. So he may just take the data and sell it on. If he tries to actually run the place, I won't be helping him, you can be sure.

And yet Paul continues to hope that "he intends to do good"
This place was only ever meant as temporary (I am very much not a fan of these old-fashioned PHP bulletin board systems, especially when there are such great new systems out there now), but we can see how it goes.

I know what you mean, jamalrob. Anyway, if he sells on to someone reputable, I'll happily go back. On the other hand, if we do keep this place up, maybe we can all chip in and improve it somehow.

Oh, just got word that though old passwords are safe, the owner could change the system to steal those of new members. Another reason not to aid and abet.

Yes, I hadn't thought of that. The code that handles the signup submissions could store the passwords in plain text very easily if he wanted it to.

Re: Welcome former members of PF
Hello, hello, hello everybody. I hope PF is not dying, but I signed up here just in case. Thank you to Jamal for setting it up. It's nice to see some old 'faces' here.
I like the idea of having only one post in my tally. I'd like to leave it at that but I've already seen a post of BC to which I want to reply, so....
